S1106SW.EARLYCRUDESTOUT.M  Very attractive dark brown saltglazed stoneware stout porter shape, English c1780, extreme crude finish, raised base, loosely bevelled base edge, sagged outwards, body inwards tapering then bulging at shoulder, offcentred, then turning inwards to short neck topped with bold rounded lip. surface covered in kiln and touchmarks, manufacture scratches and one particular deep gouge all in manufacture, all covered in a dark brown almost metallic glaze. Excellent condition, just a few pinprick glaze blows. 8 1/2"high, 3 1/2"diameter    £sold
