U0911SW.ENGLISHSHOPOT.M  English Brown saltglaze stoneware baluster shaped shop-pot of particular attractive form c1750, flat based, trimmed base edge, narrow lower body buging out dramatically to upper section, rounding in to cordoned shoulders below wide mouthed shallow neck topped immediately with rounded lip. Top third dark brown glaze, bottom two thirds mid bron/buff lower body. Some faint touchmarks and some small drips of glaze, a superior specimen with a few light kiln blows and some fingerprints. One small hairline thumbshaped bruise to base edge with shallow chip to one side. Traces of gilding and paint to body and shoulder. 9"high,7"diameter    £sold
