T0907SW.CANDLESCTOBACCO.M Rare brown saltglazed stoneware English tobaccojar c1837 with unusual sprigging and candle sconce domed lid. Flat base, plinthed body , two well formed grooved scrolled handles either side and separate domed lid with balustered stem and bottom of candle sconce, filled with small dome restoration. Portion of lip of lid broken but reglued. Displays excellently. Sprigs are a full Royal coat of arms with supporters for Queen Victoria, Union sprig of central rose with thistles either side and Shamrock leaves above. Another sprig showing ancient Greek woman playing double flutes with attendant panther and finally an oriental figure? 6 3/4"high, 4 1/2"diameter £95
