W0501SW.CHILDSPUNTNASECRUG.M    Extreme rare delightful, brown saltglazed stoneware German crug c1500, with thumbed base, bulbous body and small handle, but particularly with a careful but naïve face with eyes and  nose added and further inscribed decoration in the classic "Puntnase" style. This style is rare enough but I've never seen it on such a tiny crug, obviously for a child (only a child could handle it) and it must have been a very much loved child's personal item. It is lightly brown speckled glazed over a grey body. A deep raised  base with the edges thumbed into piecrust type style. It has two small pieces of this piecrust chipped off but is otherwise excellent condition. Some negligible nibbling on the lip. Its lovely! :)  2 2/5"high, 2 1/5"diameter.   £1450
