V0423SW.GEORGIANTANKARD.M  Delightful English London pottery, two tone saltglazed stoneware tankard c1780, sprigged with large central plaque of detailed "Midnight Modern Conversation" naively depicted but quite detailed, then either side large very boldly sprigged trees and underneath hunt scene of running beater, mounted huntsman (both with floppy hats) two double sprigs of hounds in spread running order and at head a naively depicted Hare jumping over another heavy foliage sprig. Excellent condition. Top half dark brown almost metallic with nce speckling, above warm grey lower body. Flat base slight inset unglazed, slightly flared foot and wide scrolled grooved applied handle with tail flick back roll. Excellent condition. Silver plated mouth mounting, one side slightly dented but of little significance. Delightful and rare smaller size5 3/8"high, 3 1/2"diameter    £sold
