T1213SW.MANONBARRELBOURNE.M A true classic two tone brown saltglaze stoneware man on a barrel reform flask. Highly detailed full length figural body of grinning man dressed in early 18thC jacket, waistcoat and kerchief with short brimmed hat. Potentially a sailor uniform, with breeches and buckled shoes. Barrel impressed 'XXX' and 'SUCCESS TO REFORM'. clearly impressed below. Manufacturer's stamp "DENBY & CODNOR PARK, BOURNES, POTTERIES, DERBYSHIRE"also clearly stamped on reverse. Flat glazed base. Two piece mould. Hat, hair and coat highlighted in dark brown glaze, rest in buff. A great example, just has a small repair to the end of his nose (to a very high standard indeed, in fact has been overlooked by several collectors) and is otherwise totally mint. 8"high, 3 3/8"x1 7/8"diameter £sold
