Front of barrel impressed 'X X X'. Underneath impressed 'SUCCESS,/ TO,/ REFORM'. Dark brown glazing used to pick out hat, hair and coat leaving waistcoat, shirt, face and lower body in buff cream. Rear impressed 'DENBY & CODNOR PARK, BOURNES, POTTERIES, DERBYSHIRE". Well modelled (typical of this esteemed pottery) c1830.
