S118SW.NOMASKBELLUTIL.M  Excellent early brown saltglazed stoneware handled utility of bellarmine style (without Facemask) rare and superb condition c1600.  overall grey background with mid brown speckling all over with drips towards lowerbody etc. Wide early foot with wirecutting, and rough edge, dropped baluster body into short wid tapering neck topped with good cordone lip. Strong rat tailed handle crudely but firmly applied, usual but small and light touchmarks. Interesting "cracking" to neck, totally in manufacture and glazed over and obviously still used.  Rare and fascinating early utility. 7 1/4"high, 4 7/8"diameter.  £295
