R0801SW.3LIONBELLARM.M    Attractive early bown saltglazed stoneware bellarmine c1575, very squat early rounded body with wide rough edged foot, wirecut base with square touchmark for kiln platform piece, overal mid brown with more dark brown speckling to rear. Extreme rare three roundels to body showing well struck detailed Lion faces within florate border. Large bearded facemask to shoulder is interestingly the human/lion facemask version also to match, again well detailed and well struck. Usual minor touchmarks and tiny flaws. Handle re-attached and very top of lip restored around. Displays excellently and a real eyestopper. Particularly rare combination and early form. 6 3/4"high, 6 1/4"max diameter.   £SOLD
