R0806SW.FTHMBLNGNCK.M  Appealing classic form of thumbed base saltglazed ceramic handled drinking crub/bottle c1450, baluster form lightly ribbed body on bold thumbed edge/piecrust foot, longish tapering neck finishing in downtooled protruding mouth piece rim well below straight open lip. Simple strong handle from shoulder to rim piece. Overall mid brown in colour, annular ribbing to lower body. Some minor chipping reveals a rare and fascinating terracotta type body, potentially mimicking the German stoneware then flooding the market. Some restoration to inside thumb base edge, a couple smal chips sliver off lip and three small blowout on front body. Rare and appealing piece cheaply priced. 6 1/2"hight, 4"diameter   £295
